Who's responsible

What we keep, and why

Legal basis. You asked to join the beta and we need the above to run it (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)). The acceptance record we keep a while longer, because it's our evidence if the terms ever matter (Art. 6(1)(f), our legitimate interest). You don't have to give us any of this, but without it we can't let you in.

What we don't do

No analytics. No tracking pixels. No fingerprinting. No selling, sharing or "trusted partners". One cookie, and not the tasty kind: it keeps you signed in while you click through, and expires soon after.

Who else touches it

• STAGING PLACEHOLDER HOSTING PROVIDER (H7), in the EU, hosts this page and processes the data on our behalf. Nobody else gets a copy.
• GitHub and Discord. We ask their APIs to invite you and give you a role, using account ids they already have. What you do on GitHub or Discord is between you and them, under their own privacy policies - both are US companies. Yes, we see the irony of an EU-sovereign project running its beta through them. It's where the people are; the product itself uses neither.

How long

While you're in the beta. When you leave or we remove you, everything goes except the acceptance record, which stays until the terms stop applying (three years after we last shared beta material with you), then goes too.

The one automated check

The star-and-watch step is a computer asking GitHub a yes/no question about your own account. It decides whether the next button lights up. Nothing else about you is decided by a machine.

Your rights

Ask to see what we have, correct it, export it, delete it, restrict it or object to it: staging-placeholder@example.invalid. If we're being unreasonable about it, the Dutch data protection authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens) takes complaints.

If this page changes, its version changes, and if the change matters to you, we'll tell you.
